Next Generation of Trains in Perth! The B-series trains, built in Maryborough, Queensland by Downer Rail and Bombardier, began service on the Joondalup Line in 2004 as part of Perth’s network expansion. Each three-car set cost around $10 million and was delivered across Australia on temporary standard gauge bogies before being refitted in Perth for the local narrow gauge. They feature locally made interiors, feature regenerative braking, use 20% less energy than the A-series, and reach speeds of up to 130km/h.
